FAQs

We’re happy to help and would love to hear from you.

Ready to apply?

Do I need to be a writer to participate?

No. This workshop is designed for curious travelers, storytellers, and beginners as well as experienced writers. You don’t need prior writing or performance experience, just curiosity and a willingness to engage in the creative process.

What kind of stories will we be working on?

You’ll discover and develop travel stories during the week in Granada. Through guided prompts, excursions, and craft sessions, you’ll learn how to notice meaningful moments in place and shape them into narratives you can write and optionally share aloud.

What does a typical day look like?

Most days include a morning craft session, independent writing time, and optional evening discussion or sharing as the final salon approaches. On three days, the group will take curated excursions designed for story-noticing and inspiration.

Do I have to perform at the final salon?

No. Sharing is encouraged but not required. The final-night salon is designed to be welcoming and low-pressure, and participants choose their level of participation.

Why aren’t lodging and meals included in tuition?

Participants book their own accommodations for flexibility, privacy, and comfort. We provide a recommended hotel and planning support to make logistics simple.

Is the application competitive?

No. The application helps us get to know participants and support a cohesive group. Enrollment is first-come, first-served once seats are available.

What happens if the workshop doesn’t meet minimum enrollment?

The workshop runs with a minimum of five participants. If minimum enrollment isn’t met, the workshop will be canceled and any refundable deposits will be returned in full.

What about accessibility and mobility?

Granada is a historic hillside city with cobblestone streets and uneven terrain. We will make reasonable efforts to adapt routes and activities when possible, and we encourage participants to share any mobility or accessibility needs during the application process so we can discuss accommodations together. Some major sites, including the Alhambra, offer accessible routes and facilities.

Instruction will be multimodal and we can accommodate accessibility needs throughout the curriculum. Just let us know.
